Looks so beautiful, I'm almost afraid to eat it. Can it get better than a classic Heiner's hot dog bun?

Thinking of modding it with a BallPark frank along some mustard and relish, but might go crazy and get some onions and sauerkraut.

Have you tried the Sriracha mod yet?

That feels like it's just a fad started by hipsters. Almost as bad as the ketchup mod.

You should put the bun in the oven and see if you get some little buns.

The only mod I ever liked to the bun was the buttered & toasted outside.

Growing up we had a 5 & dime called Grants. They had a snack bar that toasted the buns like in the photo below.
    OMG those were killer!

Just add mustard, radioactive green sweet relish, onion, sport peppers & tomato.
That extra crisp from the bun & it held the toppings better as well.

You start with what's known in these parts as a New England style bun/roll. Flat sides with no crust. An altogether more functional form. As a NYer raised on Sabrett, Nathan's, and Hebrew National, it['s kind of heresy for me to admit its superiority as a platform for further mods.

I grew up in the Berkshires and we always buttered and browned our hotdog rolls.
I then moved to the capital district NY and am stuck with their silly hotdog buns.
I do like the mini dogs though!

Folks from certain areas of West Virginia will recognize my favorite mod.

Chili, raw sweet onions, Cole slaw.

I always thought the cole slaw thing was a South Carolina thing. Wherever it's from, I highly approve (and also of their mustard vinegar BBQ sauce - - I'll take it over the KC BBQ type around here any day! ;) )

So did we and I remember those hot dogs from when I was a kid. I think the last Grants disappeared from SoCal in the mid 70s...

<edit>Cool, look what i found and I was right too...

So Culver's has a new Gluten Free bun for their burgers.

As my wife has Celiac disease, this is awe inspiring news.
