ie: A VW Garagemaster.
Unless you’re making money with music, ie buying an amp will pay for itself and the car, get the car.
Funny, I had the same issue last year.
I ended up buying the amp.
In my experience the first weeks are the worst, but after my wife warmed up to the amp she started playing it all the time. Now she plays it even more than I do. I'm trading hours of the amp for hours on her car. We split 50/50 the gas and the tubes for the amps.
Gotta tell you: we've never been this happy in years.
No body “needs” a mega dollar amp..
You might need a reliable car however...
FWIW I have a 2018 car and the same amp since 1995 or so...
It's logical to want the amp, which in many cases is a more stable (if not appreciating) asset, versus a depreciating car.
But here in real life, you need a car. Take care of business first, then get the toys.
Well, that's the basis of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. But then it doesn't account for the proverbial "starving artist" who would rather have an amp than a car.
Nice idea but I prefer a set neck.
Yeah, cases are blowing up here so better to stay home. That out of the way, I'm kinda leaning toward one of the Landrys.
Wife's not for sale or trade. Unfortunately, I'm at the age where if I'd buy the Vette I'd need a Members Only jacket to go with it.
Johnnie Taylor would take exception to that:
I do have a few but I want to scratch that modded JCM800 itch. Wish I would've kept my Metaltronix M1000.
1.) Yes, see above.
2.) Was and will be when this Covid mess blows over.
3.) Kinda sorta but then not really.
Not a bad recommendation, but then I wouldn't be able to afford the car or the amp.
a new amp is great until you miss a gig and get fired from the band because your car broke
then you have to sell the amp to make up for the lost gig money
not to mention no one at the gig cares what your amp sounds like in the first place
Based on your post, I have to ask....
Are you a kept man? Is your wife your sugar momma?
If yes, does she have a sister?
I think BB can speak for me on the first two questions, which renders the third irrelevant.
bc you don't need a license and plates
And road rage.
I mean have you heard of an amp engaged in road rage??
Maybe a Diezel, but that's it.
It sounds like you don’t really like your wife. That probably sucks for both of you. Have you seen American Beauty? Maybe just do what you want regardless?
Dumble or a Tesla? Tesla
VW guitar? Is it rigged to deliberately give fake dB readings when a cranky neighbour comes by? Did they test the paint fumes on monkeys? Not one who follows causes but VE is the worst corporate citizen in the world.... next to perhaps the Colombian drug lords.
Dude! What is your problem?!?! This is ridiculous!!! I can’t even take this seriously!!!
.... this should be posted in the amps forum.
True Story... I was 15 and had the choice to buy a car or an amp. I chose an amp. Best $500 I ever spent.
Edit: If your not 15 get the car. Buy a cheap amp on CL to get you by.
Amps don’t require interaction with DMV staff. Amp!!!!
Amp and a bike. Solved.
That sums it up right there. You have a wife. Get the car.
Cars depreciate astronomically once you drive off the lot (when new) and amps tend to appreciate after a certain age (when old as fack) so compromise and buy a used version of each!
