The description in the specs doesn't actually say it is alnico, it says "But only Celestion has the experience and know-how to emulate the tone and response of its own, Alnico classic in a modern driver thatÂ’s perfect for single or multiple applications in cabinets or combos." For the magnet type, it says "Round copper". I wonder if that is a typo, or some terminology I'm not familiar with ?

Looks like an intersting speaker. I'd like to try one some time.

They're not saying what's different about this new coil!

Has this speaker hit the market yet? If it's priced like The Blue, they migh have a tough time selling it without the Blue's long standing reputation.

If it sounds like a blue they won't need one.

My guess is because of the Blue's affinity to lower powered amps, it is part of it's allure. I highly doubt they can recreate that in that format.

But I have been wrong before...

If Weber can do a 50W version of his alnico blue-alike why not Celestion? Yeah, I know, the 50W Weber sacrifices a bit of the high end but that's the price of the extra power-handling.

Our new speaker is indeed the "Celestion Gold". We've put a lot of work into this and it truly nails the tone of the Blue.........but with 50 watts power handling! More tech details to follow because I need sleep after this crazy day! Cheers, Rick

    Rick,

it would be great with info on the new celestion gold alnico and the new RI 25w silver alnico that you make for marshall.
To my ears, the 25w ain't as bright and loud as a blue - it's more like a 30w weber silver bell.

the frequency charts for the gold and the blue look very similar. this speaker looks like it may be a winner.

Hi guys. I'll post in the manufacture's forum after this weekend, but for now I'll say UK made, same price (or within a few dollars...need to double check retail), and they'll probably ship in May. What I can say here is "Thank You" too you guys.....the folks on the forums (especially TGP) greatly influenced our desicion to proceed with this project. Rick

    Awesome!

I read here that Matte has a high power Blue in one of his 4x12's. I wonder how close these new Blues wil be to his...
