So the other night, I'm surfing eBay . . . & OK, I'm a little drunk. I find one of these and buy it for $100: http://www.presonus.com/products/VXP

I figure for the mic pre alone; it's prolly an upgrade from my M-Audio DMP3
Beyond that - is it likely that I'll like/use the compression/EQ/"tube" saturation when I typically do all/any of the within my DAW ? The inspiration is that I played with a TC Elect. Mic Mechanic pedal the other day at my local GC and really liked what it did to my vocal . . .

    peace

I have a DMP3. I doubt the Presonus will be any better. (I like the DMP3 just fine for what it's designed to do - clean gain with little or no coloration).

I am really lazy and use plug-ins for comp/eq/etc.

arrived the other day and it sounds amazing

properly dialed in, it seems to "round out" my vocal tone very, very nicely !
agree Tree, the DMP is a solid pre (shich is why I've kept it for the last 10 yrs). Gonna continue to use it as my GTR DI and pre for Acoustic GTR mics

    peace
