    Hi,

    Seems like I can't keep away from this influence :D

    Guitars are Suhr Classic through a Boss GS-10 straight to computer. Same preset all through until the last turn when I kicked in a Tonebone Classic. All other gain nuances were achieved by guitar volume control and picking dynamics.
    Bass = Broomstick Bass.
    Drums = Battery 2.
    Rhodes = LoungeLizard 2.

    Here's the tune:
    So It Is

    Here's the BT:
    So It Is Backing Track

    This is neither freeware or payware. This is "commentware" :D
    If you download it, please post a comment.

    Cheers,

    Mats N

    Nice playing and backing! It reminded me of Steely Dan a bit. Tasteful playing all the way through. Thanks again for posting the backings too! :)

    Hi Jim,

    Thanks for listening and for the kind words!
    At first I thought I was going to do a arch top clean sort of melody/solo over it but then I thought of you, Carlos and Tag and how wonderful you guys would sound doing just that and decided to do something else :D

    The backing track I'm working on now is going the "clean route". I started with the arch top but soon took out my 335 which sounds a bit warmer.

    Cheers,

    Hi Tag,

    Thanks for the compliment.
    And you're quite welcome to the BT.
    After you latest take on my whacky funk BT I'm very much looking foreward to what you might do next.

    Cheers,

    Hi Anders,

    Varsågod!

    Thanks for the compliment. It's very difficult to feel like great player around these monster musicians lurking in our midst. ;)
    I didn't know I had a style. Go figure. :)

    Cheers,

    Hi PacoCasanova,

    Yup, this song was preceeded by a car trip across Sweden with Steely Dan in the CD player.

    Thanks for the award!

    That was a most enjoyable piece of music Mr Journo.
    Det gjorde mig i helt godt humør:)
    Reminded me of my youth where we where listening to Steely Dan and stuff like that.
    And thanks for the backing track, it was most fun to play along with it.

    Mats this is just great and inspiring, a special song more than just a backing track. I love Steely Dan as many here and your song get the taste but with your own spice...I was today at free couple of hours and I did my take, and extend to 3 hours total with mixing and remastering.

    Mats, this time I keep your playing in the theme melody (that could be named a forced collaboration ;=) ) I play only with my Telecaster here and record with a PreSonus BLUETUBE feeding direct into my POD 2.4 ( appraised souvenir from Scott Lerner ) then m-audio delta 66 and PC recording software .. I was so excited with your track that I dared to sing some scat first time here in TGP. Thank you again for this incredible backing track Mats

    Carlos

    My take on Journo - So it is.mp3 NOTE: the melody is Journo original playing and my guitar added as a armonic duet. I just play the solos after that.

    Hi Carlos,

    To hear you blow over my track is a good reward for making this BT available. Your playing left me laughing with joy sometimes. It also left me incredibly envious. Man, I wish I had your timing, melodic sense and technique.

    Thanks for posting!

    Cheers,

    Excellent take Carlos! The interweaving of outside lines and tasteful melody is truly inspiring. And to keep up with that scatting, simply amazing! :dude

    I'll try to post something this week, something a little below the bar! You know, just to contrast all that great playing. LOL :D
