Just reading this as I have had some issues with my TTE. for a while the tape keeps freezing, then thursday it got all twisted in the cart, cleaned it put in a new tape and it happened with in seconds. Dug around and found an old TTE from the pre BB days that I kept as a hail mary, put it in and it has run smoothly for 3 days and sounds better oddly it is quieter.....ever run across this. Mike got right back to me with questions, sad to say my email is acting up so can't respond

I just bought an SSTE. It sounds fantastic. It's a brand new one.#16.
    Tape is # 17
The tale seems to wave a bit. I'm not sure if it came on the machine or if my local store installed it.
It was run on fast speed by mistake by me when I tried it out.
I think I should replace the tape as I want it to be right.
Not sure if running it will damage my machine.
Should I just use it until it dies or replace it right away.
Can I take it out and straighten it out?

Very excited to have a SSTE inbound. Regrettably sold one awhile back and have missed it ever since.

Mike told me a couple of months back that he's still working out the kinks. No ETA just yet.

I got an SSTE last year and it simply kills. For me, nothing comes close. The design, usability, reliability and build quality of the SSTE is as good as it gets.

Lastly, I have nothing but high praise for my dealings with Mike. Over the years he has always taken the time to provide personal support and I really appreciate that.

Emailed him yesterday and got a reply back today that said he was just waiting for ball bearings from a supplier. That seems like it might be close to me.

He gets bad press around here on occasion but I have never had anything to complain about. The customer support has always been prompt and helpful when I have needed it.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but question for you guys that have the SSTE - how quiet is it?

I dont mean noise/hiss in the signal/repeats but the actual tape mechanism when its running? I have quite a bit of noise, like from the tape - almost like a scraping type sound.

I did follow the instructions to confirm the tape path was routed correctly and ive only been running it on ‘slow’ speed.

I know its a machine with a motor etc but the scraping sound is quite loud. Is this normal?

Did original ep-3’s have this scraping noise to this extent also?

What happened to that new, non-cartridge tape transport Fulltone was showing last year?
