Yea, it really is a pretty dramatic difference. Especially in the room. I’m digging it!

with your Sunlion, did you send yours back to get RCA's put in?
if so, what was in there before?
    and is it now better?

I have a surface RCA that I love, also have a 2n sunlion that I'm thinking of doing the swap thing
    if it's something worthwhile doing

also I wonder what it would be like having, in the sunlion, RCA surface with NTK red dot boost?

My Sunlion had the 2N transistors too. I sent mine in to swap out with normal gain RCAs. To me it’s an improvement and easily my favorite pedal. I now have three different versions of RCAs if that tells you anything.

You still have your blue Sunlion with RCA's + Bad Bob?

No. I ended up selling it for exactly what I paid for it. My other Sunlion is my #1 and on my board though. Love my standalone Bad Bob, really great boost.

Here’s a bit of the Super High gain RCA Sunface. Sounds really beefy and full in person!

I would’ve (wrongly) assumed that the high gain might’ve been a bit over the top with humbuckers, but not so. I think Echoplexi’s clip sounded nigh on perfect!

This thread has prompted me to open up my RCA Sunlion that was built in late November. I didn’t want to specify the gain as I figured that AM would pick a good range to mate with the Beano Boost. I also didn’t specify a transistor for the Beano side, assuming that AM would make a better choice than I could. Turns out they also selected an RCA. I can’t make out the gains....looks like one of the trannys is marked M or maybe W.

It seems that my NKT Red Dot that I just opened up (G and M) and CV7005 (Q and T) are somewhere in the medium-gain range, so I was hoping for similar gain from the RCA in order to have a nice range of dark to bright fuzz between the three.

Interesting that they used the RCA on the Beano side by default. My Sunlion is an older one that I sent in to swap in the RCAs. My Beano has the GE transistor. I’d be curious to hear the difference between the two.

I honestly thought about requesting RCA's for both sides, but decided to leave that choice to AM and be completely happy if they selected the typical GE's. Could have been totally by chance or perhaps they thought the gain ranges worked best together? Dunno.

I've never had another Beano Boost and honestly haven't had a lot of time to put this new Sunlion through the paces. I was able to confirm that the RCA definitely has more brightness and cut than the CV7005, which in turn has a bit more brightness and cut than the NKT Red Dot. Which one I would choose to use would likely be more dependent on the guitar than the gain of the pedals.

I will say that the NKT has something special going on with it when used with a Strat into a Germino Club 40 amp.....def smokey with a bit of extra musical mojo that's hard to describe. They're all great and all have a musical use, IMO.
