Got this a few days ago and just got around to posting. This is the last NGD (new guitar day) I expect to have for a long, lonnnnnnng time. It's likely I'll only ever own one Gibson LP, and my dream axe has always been Standard in honeyburst. Let me clarify - a "Standard" like they used to make, without the asym neck, circuit board, etc. Last year I bought a very nice Standard in Iced Tea, but I was never able to stop looking for Honeyburst every time I stepped into a store. Being a 60s neck kinda guy, I was starting to get panicky since they aren't making them anymore, so I started looking around to see if I could find what I wanted before they disappeared. I found one at a dealer out in California, but seeing as I'm on the other side of the country, I couldn't try it first, not to mention the hassle of shipping. My local store has had a 50s neck hanging around for over a year, but for some reason it never occurred to me to ask if they had any hiding in the back with a 60s neck. Well, I asked, and they did! A brand new 2008 (pre-circuit board) in honeyburst, still in the factory sealed box. They bring it out of the back, crack open the case, and you can hear the angels sing. It's everything I've been dreaming of. A nice top, flamey, but not too crazy (I don't like 'em too "buzz saw"). I look it over real good - bee-utiful work on the neck, frets and binding, just all in all a real beautiful, quality job. I plug 'er in and play for a few minutes - Mmmmmm - yeah - you're coming home with daddy. Now it's time to pay. The sales guy is a real nice kid who I've bought from before. He punches some keys on a computer, then tells me techincally the guitar is "old stock", and he knocks $150 off just like that! Got 'er under 2K. So here she is - my dream axe, a 2008 Gibson Les Paul Standard in Honeyburst.
