Really? It kinda sucks. Great playing but the song itself is not well put together. Maybe the final version will be better?

If that's what they're releasing as a teaser for the album I don't have high hopes for it.

Look-Jimi was the reason I took up gtr in 1969. This truly sucks.You think he would approve of releasing old undeveloped ideas like this? I seriously doubt it.I have lots of Jimi recordings,but I won't buy this rip off.

i like this quote from Billy ;;;

“Jimi was a complete original and a visionary,” Cox said. “Every 10 years a new generation finds him. There are only two kinds of guitarists in the world. The ones who talk about how they were influenced by Jimi Hendrix and those who were influenced by Jimi Hendrix but won’t admit it.”

As much as I want to hear the material it bothers me that they won't just let him and what he accomplished rest.

These things always crack me up. All Jimi did his whole life was get high and jam. So there are lots of recordings of him . Most of them terrible.
IMHO anything worth listening to by him was already put out a long,long time ago.

There are idiots that will buy it. The only diff now vs 25 years ago is that the Hendrix family is exploiting and bastardizing the Hendrix legacy vs. Alan Douglas who did it by releasing half baked totally stoned jam sessions back then.

They are supposedly repackaging the Experience discs again, and including a DVD documentary of each as well.

The ones I have still sound good, so....

The Wal Mart exclusive also comes with a Gibson Hendrix strat and a chance to win a Hendrix Baldwin paino.

Jimi's modus operandi was to throw tons of **** against a wall. Some of it stuck and he released it.

His best moments were the result of relentless experimentation and knowing what to keep and release.

If this new stuff was truly worthwhile, he would have released it during his life.

Cry of Love and Rainbow Bridge are both pretty fine releases neither of which were released when he was alive. Band of Gypsies was, though the La Times article seems to have forgotten it.

While I don't agree with all of Janie's management of the estate she has done a pretty decent job of preserving the legacy and putting out stuff on the Dagger records imprint.(The short lived Douglas remasterings of the original recordings are pretty decent also.The Crash landing and MIdnight Lightning records less so. As far as soundquality is concerned as often is the case ,vinyl is your friend) As for the new release I don't know what's on it so its hard to comment. Lots of that material has been out in various boots etc. and serious fans may be familiar with it. But for better sound quality it may be worth it. I'd like to get my hands on the 60 or so minutes of "Driving South" that was on a Euro boot box set about a decade ago.
