I haven’t seen this before. I’m hoping if you haven’t you’ll dig it.
Very cool. If I were to complain it'd be why do the cameras focus on his face and picking hands exclusively? If he didn't play with his teeth during Purple Haze you wouldn't even know he had a right hand.
I know this style of shooting live concerts is common from this era but jeez. I appreciate that this exists in the first place, considering there's not a great deal of Hendrix video out there, but as a wanna-be guitarist this kind of thing always ends up with me crying on the inside.
And yes he does say “scuse me while I kiss this guy”, with a big grin on his face.
Great to see this.
You'll notice the drum head says MICK. The british 60s pop group Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich also played on this show and Mitch used their kit. The Experience brought their own amps, the other band's backline of german amps is down in front.
I have not seen that before but I just noticed: doesn't Jimi have the reverse nickel pickup height going on there? The pickups are closer to the bass strings...the "one nickel" distance. The pickups are lowered down into the pickguard on the treble side.
Let me try that with my two 100 watt Marshall heads and see if it makes a difference ...
Well spotted. Just had a look at him playing at Woodstock and he has them set up like that there as well.
You get a clear view at 2:29 mins.
Very Cool. Thanks
Anyone got a guess as to what the color of his Strat is?
I enjoyed that but the camera angles were terrible.
I was thinking Fiesta Red. One moment it looked LPB
That's hilarious. I never really imagined how people play with their mouth. You can clearly see during Hey Joe how he tongues the hell out of them strings. He's doing hammer ons, like EVH, but with his tongue.
Is it this guitar.......
