Ugly. Sorry, it just is. That’s like Boss GT-8 level of UI design. I get it, because they had to make it work with what they have, but it’s an awful design.

Yeah, but if it has the Profiler tech, then it will do well.

    For a time, perhaps.

This whole release just angers me. Kemper has a real opportunity to move forward and push the envelope like they did at their initial launch, but they cheaped out and delivered more of the exact same thing. It’s dated tech. On one hand, I admire their commitment to the platform for the long haul, but on the other, their competitors have passed them up.

I am with you even if they had down all black powder coated
Matte black and army green is ugly as hell from an aesthetic
And by the look of the 25 tiny buttons they better have an editor launch with it

I am surprised Fractal hasn't integrated tone match more fluidly by now. They obviously have the capability, and it would be a Kemper killer.

Have you ever used a Kemper? I quite honestly find it's on-unit UI to be faster/easier and after working with it for a couple of hours at least as intuitive as Helix. More limited in what you can do, but all those buttons give you direct access to a whoooole lot of functions with fewer menus/lists.

Buttons and knobs are awesome for quickly selecting/dialing in blocks.

But the rig/effects selection with the browse knob is one of the worst UI decisions I've encountered.

Really could benefit from a larger screen and some kind of folder system.

Yeah, I never had many more than a dozen rigs loaded on the unit at any given time.

Ahh if its on a stand in front if me sure
We are talking about a floor processor though not rack/head
Without and editor you are bent over this thing pushing tiny button
    Not fun for me

I keep my helix up at waist height when I'm in lots-of-edits mode, put it back on the floor when I'm done.

Helix also has pedal edit mode, useful for tweaking stuff from the floor, but for me it's not productive for serous editing or from-scratch patch creation.
Don't know if this Kemper has anything like that.

Did you have the Kemper after they updated the Delays? There's 231 effect presets now with no grouping. That means you have to turn the knob about 20 times to get from first to last. Not ideal.

Here's my ranking of using from the front panel exclusively:

    1. Helix - quick and easy (and fun)
    2. Kemper - generally quick and easy with some exceptions
    (wide gap)
    3. Headrush - touch screen but very clunky
    4. Fractal AX8 - big learning curve and lots of menus with no joystick
    5. Atomic - miniscule screen with little feedback and poor navigation

I don’t know about other people who are hating on the looks.... I dig it actually. Out for sale on Wednesday. IMHO this is the way you do a release.

I'm always so curious about this part. What's dated about the functionality of the current Kemper? I'm not sure if upgraded DSP's would make it profile or playback amps any better. They're releasing an editor, new effects and Kemper Kone which is all usable on the current hardware. I think it's pretty great how competitive a 7+ year old tech device still is.

Looks like everything from the old unit is on there, including profiling.

I would be shocked if this was priced at or under $1500. The toaster/remote bundle today is over $2200 and the toaster alone is $1800. It would not work with their current price structure and I could see some upset customers. I'm guessing $2000, unless there's going to be a price break on the toasters/rack...

I love the military look of it. Looks earthy aesthetically. I don't like the spaceship look other brands have even though I use one. I like the tank look of this.
