Has anyone heard about the new Komet? It's supposedly very close to the Express and will be 50W. I believe it's called the KF-50 and will be offered in a hardwood cab....

I'm sure it'll sound awesome, and perhaps a bit deafening at 50W!

And there I was hoping it would be based on the venerable AC15...........

I wuz kinda hoping they'd built a quieter amp than a Constellation, not a louder one.
I've never heard any Komet in person, let alone played one. I'm assuming that the komet is hugely loud, sorta like a very healthy Hiwatt 50 watter+, yet have also heard that the Connie is very loud. How loud? Matchless DC 30 at full power w/o MV? Was it as loud as the plexi Marshalls/Germinos at the NYC tonefest? AS loud as a very healthy AC30TB through blues?

    >>have also heard that the Connie is very loud. How loud?<<

    Urban myth.

Yeah, you can play it loud, but it's not like some roaring untamed beast that will make you deaf with the volume on "1". Procos brought one over to my studio, and it sounded good at about the same volume levels my Onyx sounds good, and the Onyx has a master volume.

I thought it was a very controllable amp at what I'd consider normal band volumes.

While I prefer the kinds of tones my Onyx delivers (I simply prefer a 6L6 California sound), I could see the attraction players find in the Constellation, and it's a sweet amp to play. Chuck set the tone a little dark when I was playing it, I'd have set it brighter.

I like the Connie a lot, but I consider it to be a very loud amp with no master. Of course, I would say the same about the /13 37 and 33, etc. as well. So, I guess it depends on your perspective.

    Brew,

What kind of tubes are those on that prototype? They look like some kind of big bottle to me. ;)

The KF-50 is Ken Fischer's latest amp (and, next to the Rocket, my favorite Trainwreck design to date). It's a Lead amp designed specifically around EL34 output tubes.

There are plenty of Express traits in its tone, but it's much bigger sounding with a huge bottom end, and more clean headroom.
It ate my favorite '68 Plexi for lunch, almost hurt my feelings :D .

They will be available in solid hardwood cabinets because Ken likes the resonance that adds to the amp's tone.

I will spill more details as soon as the project is nailed down, but prototypes are up and running.

It's going to be a Trainwreck engineered, Komet built amp.

i got the perfect idea for a head cabinet.

    make 2 cabinets available

one would be all Padauk but with a natural flame maple top and front V (to look just like the komet)

and the other would be the reverse. natural flame maple with a padauk top and front V

if so, put me on the list (somewhere near the bottom though)
