A marshall dealer friend of mine leaked that they will dump the DSL 401 and bring out a (salivates wildly) smaller tube combo in time for the winter NAMM.
Any other details , let's hear em.

I thought the DSL401 had already been dumped, though they are on sale at GC for $500 a couple weeks ago, some internet sites showed it as discontinued a few months ago, I remember recommending one (I have one and its my favorite amp, think they were looking for an EL-84 amp)

Like to see what Marshall has to replace the DSL401, its been controversial, some guy said they had problems with over heating, and I remember the ones in the stores not working, going into thermal shutdown, which made me get a Mesa Mark IV at the time, but after a couple years they seemed to have fixed the amp, thats when I got mine, really a great amp,

    new marshall gas :banana

They already have one- the JVM215c. I've got a JVM410C which I love- great clean, JCM type Crunch, and stompbox eliminating OD channels. I put a chorus, flanger, and delay in the programmable loop and I'm done.

    Looks pretty much like a DSL50 feature-wise.

I bought a JTM30 right when they came out and it would overheat all the time. The amp had great cleans. The dirty channel a little fuzz and buzz. I ended up selling it. The Dsl was going to be my next purchase, but I remember the price going way up from the time they came out.

Its good to see they actually did it right this time, instead of making a new bastard 40Watt combo with EL84's that was the DSL401, which I used to own. I always thought a DSL50 in a 112 combo would have been a better amp than a DSL401.....

I had a jtm30 that died after the first week. bought it brand new in 95 or 96. The warranty replaced the amp( long story) and I had it converted to EL34s.

The clean channel ROARED. It was awesome. I sold it to Alf Hermida when I got my 18 watt clone

How is that 1923 head different than the DSL50 head? Or is it?

I always wondered why they never made a DSL50 or 100 combo, but now I know. They were keeping that in their back pocket to release later. I'd love to have a DSL50 combo.

Marshall badly needs to release an 18W 2xEL84 combo with a 12" Celestion to try and get some market share back from the Blues Junior and (to a much lesser extent) the Laney Lionhearts. The pound is starting to fall against the dollar so that will help.
