Can anyone compare the new OCD or 500k pot modded OCD with an Eternity?

yo teddy boy, it's been more than a week. do you have a comparison yet? I've got an eternity and am wondering if the OCD is different enough to warrant having both?

    Hey Slowburn,

Yep, heard them both now. They are different beasts! The OCD is raw and uncompressed whereas the Eternity is more compressed and really smooth. The eternity works great for leads and smooth, modern distortion. The OCD is like a 70's rock sound:KISS, AC/DA and Led Zep. Won't do the crazy sustaining thing the E does, but will do get you really close to Custard Pie!

Hope that helps a bit! They're both great but definately different!

yeah that helps a lot. sounds like the OCD is just what I'm looking for. a real classic rock type of od/distortion.

Tha't what I like about the OCD....
    That uncompressed sound.....It's unique!
Its almost transparent.....funny thing to say about a dist/overdrive-pedal.

Yep, totally different beasts. Both sound great. I wouldnt go as far as to describe the OCD as being transparent though.. Nor the Eternity for that matter. Both have noticeable eq characters, IMO.

from observation in many other posts, I'd venture to say that the OCD is the rawest, then the AC is in the middle, then the Eternity and Zendrive and the smoothest. but I only have direct experience with the E, obviously. so where an OCD might be just what I'm looking for, it might be further away from your ideal tone.

My impressions are that the OCD is firmly in the *Distoriton* camp, as the Eternity is more of an OD exibiting charactaristics of a distoriton pedal. And yes the Eternity is more compressed than the OCD.

I get nice OD sounds from an OCD with my strat, especially the front pickup and LP-setting. Very plexi-ish. I quite like that sound too.

And also how do you visually distinguish a new version from an old version?
