Here's a couple clips I just did using my Orange Rockerverb 50. Played through a 4x12 slant with old '70s vintage G12H30s. Miced with a Shure SM57, slightly off center on one of the lower speakers. I used my Warmoth Strat with Wagner's SR pickups in them. These things are knockin me out fo sho!!

Castles Made of Sand

Spanish Castle Magic

Only pedal I used was a Line 6 DL4 to do the reverse delay stuff on teh Castles solo...

Thanks. Yeah...I'm reminded of that all the time. Just got the Electric Ladyland DVD (Rhino DVD label) and was just blown away all over again with what a talent that guy had...IMO, no one before or since even comes close when it comes to matching innovative guitar playing (that tied a number of styles together in a new and innovative and totally integrated way) with such great, accessible songwriting with great lyrics, melodies, structures with soulful vocals and amazing live performances.

Very sweet! There was some real feeling in there. We've just been adding a couple more jimi covers and I am always amazed when I go back and listen to him seriously. Thanks for some inspiration.

Wow Leon - Killer stuff! :dude
Jimi is still my fave and you did a great job capturing the Jimi vibe.
I just picked up Jimi Plays Berkley and its very good
But thanks to you I'm about to freak while I wait for my Rockerverb 100 to arrive... But that's part of the fun I guess...

...sigh....

BTW, are those backing tracks available?

Wonderful stuff, Leon. So, have the Wagner's displaced the Anderson pups??

Jon thanks! The Wagners have literally replaced every strat pickup I've ever tried. I've been trying to get these Jimi tones for 30 years. The amp plays no small role--no doubt about that--but I've never gotten closer. I've had quite a variety of pickups in my Warmoth strat and none of them ever sounded this good. I sure as hell don't know what the Wag Man does to them but, DAYUM...this is now unquestionably the best strat I've ever owned.

Between Warmoth's SRV neck carve with the compound radius and big frets, it's amazingly playable. The LR Baggs 'vintage style' bridge is great and with locking Schallers, the thing stays in tune as well as my Thorns. This guitar blows me away.

Seriously...that Castles clip is minblowing. Really, really nice. Maybe that Orange is the Hendrix clean amp I've been wanting. Just great.

In terms of all Leon's clips, I prefer the Hendrix tones coming from his FTR37 and his Bloodhound.

I loved the Rockerverb clip of "Rockin' Down the Highway", that was killer!

RC-thanks glad you dug it. Yeah, the Rockerverb's clean channel is outstanding. Big, fat juicy cleans and G-O-B-S of clean headroom. Doesn't start breaking up until well into the pain threshold. Takes pedals nicely if you want earlier breakup.

Jon - Wagner's SR pickups are just plain ole single coil pickups. Well...maybe not so plain ;)

Hey Mike, thanks! Actually, in person, I prefer this strat through this amp to all my other attempts at Hendrix type tone. Most of it is just a question of learning to play in that style...but I find this guitar through this amp to be most inspiring for that kinda vibe.

But it's a good amp for just about anything really. Seems like so many guys just buy Rockerverb's for the gain. It's good at high gain stuff for sure...but really, there's so much more to it.
