New original song written and performed by my son!

My 19 year old son wrote, sang, and played all the music and programed the drums. Dad helped out and played the lead, not bad if I do say myself.

This is his first song he has recorded, I am proud of him, he did good.

If you are a Soundclicker he has his own SC page, please leave him some comments. A little encouragement never hurt anyone, thanks.

Great stuff. I wasn't expecting it to kick it up to a harder notch on the chorus. I thought his voice shined the best during those parts. very human and emotive.

Oh and the solo wasn't bad either ;) nice vibrato

Agree with Big Country. Sounded better belting it out. You must be a proud dad!! Mine are still 5 and 9. I hope they get bitten by the music bug.

Solo was rockin'. Dug it! Fit perfectly.

He's a thinker with a spiritual bent ...
Why else would he call his band Siddhartha
or is that the artistic name he chooses ...?

Very cool ... chip off the old block that's for sure ...

PERFECT solo! If that were my solo, that's exactly how I would want it to sound on that tune. Vocals were strained of course on the chorus, but the emotion made up for it, and considering the GREAT lyrics, it worked! Well written song, very well done. Great job on both of your parts, you should be proud! I might back off on the vocals in the mix a bit, but it's still all cool.

He has a very unique and emotive voice, he has a lot of talent this kid. He plays drums, bass, guitar, keys, and writes and sings. He is a good looking kid, I think he could really do something with his talent. He will outshining anything I ever did in a very short time. Thanks for the listen and comments.

Hey Scott! My oldest son shares the same DOB as Jimi Hendrix, I was really expecting him to be a musical giant! lol I remember when he was a baby putting his little fingers on the guitar strings and telling him what the notes were. He picks around a bit, but not really into it. This is son is my youngest, he has a lot of raw talent and can take off in any musical direction at anytime. Thanks Scott for the listen and comments, I appreciate it.

Hey brother Joseph! I knew if anyone would pick up on that it would be you. lol He chose the name for artistic reasons, he is a creative thinker.

Here is a story about this kid of mine that will make you smile. He is actually a really good guitarist, he is going to be really good. When he was about 16 he comes walking over to me with his guitar and says "check this out". He begins to play through a couple of very familiar tunes, and he is playing them note for note. He looks up at me and smiles and says "what do you think". He was playing a couple of my songs that I had recorded. He is a sponge, one might think that he is all about straight ahead rock, he plays everything. He has a couple of instrumentals that border on Jazz that we are going to record, he has a very clever musical wit about him and I am excited to see where he goes with it. Thanks for listening and commenting, I very much appreciate it.

I like the sentiment of this song.

Has he heard 'mmm mmm' By Crash Test Dummies? There are certain elements in his voice that put me in mind of that vibe, Chris.

Much promise both in the writing and the delivery.

Go ahead, purr away proudly. : )

He is a talented kid for sure, he did not want to do this song but his mom talked him into it. lol I am glad she did, it turned out well. Thanks for listening and commenting.

I like it. Good song too.

Now about that solo... perfect fit. That's what its about.

Thanks, it is a good song. Not too bad for his first time in a studio setting. The solo, hmmm well it has been a long time since I played like that, little rusty but I think it fit. Thanks for the listen and comments Dickie, I appreciate it!

Hey Mike! I don't know if he has or not, but I did not realize it until now that he does have some of the same vibe.

I agree, he has a lot of potential. His new song he is going to record is more of an ulternative fusion instrumental (really cool). It shows off some of his talent in a different light, I was floored when I heard him playing it. I hope to help him get it recorded soon. Thanks Mike for the listen and comments, as always it is much appreciated!

Yep, purring loudly! lol

Wow, that's great. Your kid's got talent. I agree with what others have said about the vocals, and I liked the dichotomy between the soft verse and hard chorus. Also, I preferred your 2nd solo more than the first, but great playing all around!

I enjoyed the song.

I first solo was pretty good, but it seemed like it took a few seconds to find it's footing and then it was off to the races.

The bass line kind of stuck out to me, especially after the first chorus. I'd rather hear a second guitar take that part rather than the bass, especially the bass doesn't really do anything else out of the ordinary during the rest of the song, but that's my personal preference. Was the bass line recorded with a bass or with guitar using a pitch shifter/octave pedal? If it was recorded with a bass, did he use a pick?

I have to agree that the vocals need to be backed off just a bit in the mix and maybe even have the rhythm guitar raised up just a little. I like your son's voice for the majority of the song. It does sound like he's straining to hit some of the higher notes of the chorus. He's definitely more of a vocalist than I am.

I'd love for the first song I recorded to have turned out like that. Instead, I look back on some of my earlier recordings (even some from last year) and wince.

Thank you, he has a future if he wants it. I called a friend and he is going to get some radio play with this tune, he is excited! I don't know who is more excited about the song, him or me! lol

Trust me Dad, you are! That's a good thing. Now if I could get my kid to give up the rap game and get on it...at 17 he can play some guitar and does write some decent lyrics too.

Just no desire to really do it right now.
