I'll be getting one of these I am certain:

    Looks nice for the money!

" The ValveKing Royal 8 delivers 5 watts into 8 ohms with one EL84 output tube in a single-ended configuration and one 12AX7 preamp tube for high power amp gain with no negative feedback. This single-channel design emphasizes the dynamic relationship of the power-amp components to produce volume and headroom that belies its small size and wattage.
Perfect for rehearsing, the Royal 8 features a simple interface of a single tone control, dual ¼” inputs and master volume and gain controls that can be adjusted for either class A “breakup” power-amp tones—achieved by reducing the gain and increasing the master volume—or preamp distortion, which players can access by reducing the master volume and cranking the gain. "

Sorta like a Valve Junior, which I love, but with a Tone Control and Master Vol.

Cool idea. Not crazy about the looks, but I could live with it.

    Peavey's own little Champ.

It looks pretty neat. I saw Jerry Donahue do a clinic with one of the bigger ones and it sounded pretty good.

I like the tube combo, 12AX7 and a EL84, it should be pretty crunchy.

they screwed the pooch with the aesthetics. the type of audience this type of amp would appeal to probably prefers tweed with the controls up on top, champ style.

Rumor had it in the $130 to $150 range. Almost no brainer pricing.

Just what I am looking for. Champ was really making me drool, but this is fine. A travel practice amp so I can leave the SS models at home.

Wonder if Peavey is trying to compete with Epiphone's Valve Junior line of amps?

That is really reasonable. I just got a valve junior and could not beleive it was only 140. Now i almost wish i had waited to try this one out as well. There is no way the wife will let me have both.

Am I the only one that thinks some of the SS models sound better than these cheap production portable tube amps? Now, I haven't heard the Peavey, but I can only imagine what it will sound like. The Overdriven sound on the Epiphone was awful.

I'd much rather have a Vox Valvetronix if I had the choice.

hopefully it'll come in just a head version, I've never been a fan of anything with a single 10" speaker or smaller....
