    It's cold outside.

My 2 cents, leave the birds, flames, gold teeth and necklaces to models that already appeal to that market segment. ;)

    Why?

Full disclosure - am not a PRS fan though the one model they offer that i do like the look of is actually the Vela. I just dont get why they should faff around with making what seems a very decent guitar semi hollow - I may be wrong (and others please chime in) but when plugged it isnt clear to me that there will be a significant tonal difference to the solid body :dunno

I love the lines and design of the Vela.
I was thinking of reselling my PRS CE24, I'm wondering how they compare...

Kind of my thought. My Vela is somewhere in the mid 6s and frankly would probably benefit from being a little heavier. For my tastes that is. Still a good guitar and if not for my Revstar, it would be seeing a lot more gigs. Give me dots and mostly solid colors please. Three PRS's here and no birds...yet.

Since it apparently is open for input. I'd like the Vela neck pickup in both slots please. Swearing off buying guitars but that setup might get me back in the game. Or maybe the SE Paul's Guitar (therefore the no birds yet statement).

    I have an
Never compared the two, but I like the way my S2 Vela Reclaimed Limited sounds. It’s highly resonant, and feels very alive when I’m playing it. I’ve been considering getting a solid body in the satin nitro finish so I can compare the two.

My S2 Vela Reclaimed Limited semi-hollow weighs 6 lbs, 2 oz.

It is a much cooler look and could appeal to more of an Indie/Fender crowd. The ones with the bowing ball swirls give off a very specific vibe, IMO and seem targeted at an older demographic. Is that a pretty fat neck though?

My favourite PRS model by far. Love this semi-hollow version.

Looks so sick with in the metallic turquoise! Vela was the first PRS I really thought looked like something I'd buy, this hollow body version even more so. Rad!

I wish it had birds though hehe. It's kinda the PRS thing and if I got a PRS I'd like it to have them.

PRS rep dude has been listening to Vulfpeck :) great playing in the demos.

"PRS dude" (Bryan Ewald) is a fantastic player, I have known him since he was a teenager, he can cop loads of styles convincingly, but also has a totally cool vibe of his own. He was playing crazy good funk 25+ years ago, way before the awesomeness of Vulfpeck hit the Youtubes.

i have played a few Vela's and they are great guitars with a lot of good tones in there. Very comfortable and I love the way they look.

I have come close to pulling the trigger on one. I wonder how much different the hollow body one sounds? The solid ones are very light so I don't see the need for HB.

I kinda thought PRS was pretty good (more-or-less) at coinciding new product announcement with having said item at dealers (?).

Not in my experience. Can't find any s2 satins at maor retailers or se pauls guitar for that matter. These are 2019 models, here we are in late May...

In my experience (and I used to work for a PRS dealer) they announce them, and then they ship shortly thereafter.

I have a PRS SE Semi Hollow that I'd love to get to sound somewhat like the Vela in that video. Can anyone suggest aftermarket pickups that can get me there? Maybe GFS?

    Thanks

I loved mine, and am not sure why I parted with it. It was really light, so I imagine the semi-hollow will be featherweight-

Ha, thanks David. But he's not wrong, love me some Vulfpeck, and it was definitely an intentional Fearless Flyers cop. By the way, that's a Gain Changer giving me the dirt in that demo.

For those who were concerned about when it will ship, dealers are saying mid-July. CME says the expected ship date is July 16th.
