New Ronsonol lighter fluid still okay to use as a cleaner?

I found out that the Ronsonol lighter fluid formula was apparently changed a few years ago after Zippo bought it. Anyone know if the "newer" formula is still safe to use as a cleaner for rosewood fretboards? And is it safe on nitro finishes? Thanks.

I've used it to clean about 10 years worth of gunk off a rosewood fretboard on a bass, didn't seem to have any negative effect. I don't know if it could harm nitro though, haven't tried that yet.

if simple plastics can harm nitro, i'd assume that lighter fluid could have some corrosive effects on it as well

I'm pretty sure it's cool on rosewood too, but I'd wait for more answers to roll in.

Why chance it? You can buy naptha in the paint dept of any hardware store and it's much cheaper that way.

I've heard that Caig Deoxit no longer has the same cleaning ability it used to as well. Something to do with Federal regulation of the transport of flammable liquids.

I've been using some recent Ronsonol (bought within the last year) to clean stuff off of rosewood fretboards and acrylic and nitro lacquer and have had no issues.
