I want one. The specs are strangely similar to the plans I had for a custom build, too.
C'mon, this doesn't give anyone else serious GAS?
Not for 28 hundred beans.
i bet it's a super platform for pedals, and Nels uses a lot of them.
i just saw two shows here in the hometown and the red amp sounded great. they were really great shows too.
i am going to get one! i played the prototype at the shop and it is totally silent when cranked, great tone, hand wired, really solid...! yes, Tim said it fantastic for using it with pedals, ie built for Nels Cline.
Tim knows guitars and amps. Tweaked a grosh I had to perfection. Also came by my house with a friend who brought a couple of Dumbles by - very nice guy.
We appreciate the kind words.
We are so excited to finally have this amplifier out for all to hear! It sounds incredible!
Yes! But having to save all my clams for a move to NY is halting any gear acquisitions. Tim and his crew walk on water!
I think you should bring one over and we can do some soundclips and video clips!
Just placed my order; last one of the 2nd run! Now I just need to sell a thing or two.
Do you guys still have your DB7's? Any new owners out there? I'm thinking of ordering one and would love to hear some more opinions/reviews. What styles of music would you say this amp is geared towards? I play Country, Funk, Blues, and Rock. Is it suitable for each of these individual styles? Any additional info would be much appreciated.
Anyone? I've tried to contact Tim a few times but he's not responding to my emails. Perhaps this amp is no longer being made?
Thanks so much for letting me know. He should really remove the product from his website! I spent a lot of time researching and trying to get info about this amp!
You might want to try calling him again!
Folks just need to remember Tim is a very busy guy. If you leave him a voice mail, he will get back to you. Tim is the best there is in Chicago.
The DB7 and matching 2x12 cab arrived! It really is an absolutely amazing amp!!!! Gorgeous, complex, tone. The Sustain is absolutely ridiculous!!! Never heard anything like it! Wow!!!!!!!!!
I saw Wilco last year, and stood maybe 20' from Nels. His sound was unreal. That amp sounded so good, no matter what he threw at it. It sounded so "round", I guess is the best word I can think of. I'm surprised it was 6L6. I thought it would be 6V6.
Smooth, man. Smooth.
Is it red.?
nice amp btw.!
A lot of money for a clean platform for pedals. This is truly the golden age of amps. With so many choices out there I can't see this one flying. Look at what he is competing with.
Vintage Sound Amps
These are just the ones I have either played or owned ( Mostly played as
I am not a billionaire, just curious)
Different takes on guitar amplification but all good to excellent products that sound great at what they do. What sets this one aside? At 2800?
Personally as I am looking to get yet another main gigging amp I cant make up my mind because there are so many great ones...I do remember when there was just Marshall, Fender, Orange and Mesa Boogie for serious players...that was pretty much it. Amps have never been better than they are right now. I'm glad to be alive at this time!
This thread is years old and he sold them all out... Looks like it flew
