I recently got a strap all the way from Australia. The strap maker (Chantal Cordey) has also made a number of items for movies, including Crocodile Dundee and Mad Max. You'd think that this one was made with Mr. Dundee in mind. I have no idea how she works the leather over, but it came to me rolled up in about a 4" circle. This one extends to 53" long and is 3.5" wide. I asked for the strap holes to be designed for strap locks, so those fit right on.

From the "Leather Artist": This guitar strap is hand embossed by me, the pattern made to mimic crocodile skin belly leather. It is embossed on a 2.5 mm thick vegetable tanned cowhide. It has a kangaroo lacing braid stitched through the leather on the edge of the centre strip. The guitar strap is lined with a cowhide suede which is hand stitched (no sewing machine used) right around with a good quality thick nylon cord. The adjustment is by way of 2 metal hooks as used in my “0” series straps and the peg holes are reinforced underneath with Kangaroo leather and stitched around for extra strength.

Wow, very nice. How much and where to purchase? Also, is it comfortable on your shoulder?

It is VERY comfortable. This strap is more flexible than anything I've ever used in the past, yet it is thicker. Some sort of magic is inside I suppose. You can fold it over anywhere and it just goes right back to shape. There's a link in the OP now for the seller.

From her web site: Prices for a custom guitar strap start at 320 Australian Dollars up to 680 Australian Dollars plus postage.

That is one striking strap. I ordered one from Chantel, too & was very impressed with how she kept in contact with me AND with the finished product. I've had nothing but compliments on it. She does wonderful work, & I have not one regret for treating myself to a custom-made strap to go with my Cp Thornton Classic custom-built guitar. And they feel great, too.

Wow Jay, that is nice!!! Is that mock snake skin or the real thing? I need to get a pic of mine with a guitar like you have there.

Wow, those are beautiful straps! And they look very well made. I'm going to have to spend some time on her site. Thanks for the heads up.

Duh! I also meant to mention that those straps are just awesome craftsmanship. What a compliment to any guitar.
Thanks for sharing these with us all.

Once I get retired and settled in I'm going to seriously look at getting one. I need a retirement gift anyway!

I've also got one of the simpler straps... Mrs mondo bought it for me a few years ago. I had heard about Chantal's work, but hadn't realised she lives just a few kilometres away from me. The Pelham hook fastening system is the most elegant and practical design I've come across for a guitar strap.

I may have to look into one of her simpler straps for when I'm playing at The Roadhouse. Think Blues Brothers.
