New to me Two Rock Jet Sig

Well I just graduated to the Two rock family.

Picked up a used Jet Sig head and getting used to it. I am coming from a Mesa Mark iii. The smoothness of the knobs is something I need to get used to. I am used to ticking the volume on the mark iii to get where I want.

A question for fellow owners. How does your reverb sound? If you max out both the level and drive do you get a maxed out reverb drowned vibe from the amp. I feel like I'm barely getting any reverb from the amp with both knobs dimed.

I also pulled the chassis and biased the amp per manual. The previous owner had it set pretty low at 10 mv, I set it at 55mv.

Also any tube recs for Two Rock? I already put some NOS RCA in v1,v2.

Congrats on the Jet Sig. :beer
What tube is in the reverb driver slot?
I've owned several TR models from that era. The ones with reverb I'd pop in a AU7. Allowing for a lower output reverb with a wider sweep on the knob.

I don't have any answers, but, congratulations! I would love one of those, myself.

I've been a fan of the custom reverb for a while. When I was able to come across this amp I thought it would fit me perfect.

It had a Jan Phillips 12at7. I had another from my stash that I swapped in. It brought the level decently when I have the driver half way up.

Check the manual. Some Two Rocks use a 12ax7 for the reverb (like my CRSv3).

If I remember correctly the Jet Sig could handle both 6v6's and 6L6'S. At the time when I had mine, I think I enjoyed the 6v6's.

Oh yea and if I remember correct the TR guys at the time recommended trying different tubes/NOS tubes in the preamp position that is responsible for the overdrive. It wasn't v1, maybe v2 or v3, check the owners manual.

Congrats on the new amp. Lots of opportunity ahead to try different tubes and play with different settings.

It's worth trying good (NOS) 5751s in some of the positions where you'd normally use 12AX7s. I've used them successfully in both my CRS and in my MkIII blue stripes.

The Amp came with Tung Sol 5881's. I threw in a pair of my JJ 6l6 I had on hand. I think I have a matched set of 6V6 somewhere I may be able to try. I have an email into Two Rock for the bias points for the amp.

I am using my 2x12 with TT purple haze/winterland combo. Man can this little amp move some air. I've also noticed how sensitive it is to pickups. My hollowbody has Lollar Imperials with series/split/parallel and the feel of the pickup is dramatically sensitive compared to my other amps.

Got the reverb figured out. Double checked the RCA Cables and reverb pan connections, I ended up removing the tank because of the background magnetic noise from the tranny. I have it placed outside the head. Had me think why Mesa routed out the reverb tanks to keep them away from the transformers while keeping the profile of the head down. I may mod the bottom that way..we'll see.

I also think the reverb threw me a little because I've only played long tanks. The short tank and medium decay is different than what I'm used to. Has anyone tried different reverb tanks with the two rock line?

I'm finally settling into the amp. Pretty damn impressed. Only squib so far is that I like the treble pulled on clean, and I would prefer the middle pulled in lead and the treble not pulled. But then I to playing with the lead gain, and lead master and I'm :) again.

Well I just reconed a bad JBL K120 at Pro Speaker repair and all I can say is WOW!

I am coming from my old speaker cab of a Tone tubby purple haze/winterland combo.

I was definitely not this WOWed when I first started playing the head with the TT combo.

Two Rock Jet + JBL K120-Two thumbs up...way up from me!
