Will the new Tung-Sol 5881's take 6L6GC current/voltages?
The 5881 is an "Industrial Strength" 6L6.
Uh.... Not sure about that one... I heard 450v on the plates maybe the max for the new Tung Sol 5881 tubes.
We are not talking Sovtek 5881. Those are different. The Tung SOl tubes are tiny!!!
If you're talking about the Sovtek tube.
The original 5881s had lower voltage and power dissipation ratings than 6L6GCs.
I stand corrected. The GC does have higher ratings than your average 6L6. Thanks for setting me straight.
The Sovtek 5881s, which aren't REAL 5881s according to the spec, could handle 500 Volts on the plates. REAL 5881s are spec'd for under 400 Volts.
The Tung Sol reissue 5881s are good to approximately 450 plate volts.
6L6GCs are rated for 500 plate volts.
Thanks for all the replies, but I'm only interested in the New Tung-Sol Reissue 5881 vis a vis the NOS 6L6GC Specs. Thanks, Mark
