Not a bad change. Some of the ideas initially floated out were a little too extreme for me

Change for change sake. Not always a good thing IMO.

My bad, I just scanned article. That last paragraph. I had heard they were talking about increasing the roster for more practice/camp/special team bodies, and thought it was that that got shot down.

They will say they are concerned with hits/injuries, but won't pay for more salaries...

What they should do is implement a temporary DL for anyone on the concussion protocol. Allow teams to replace a player suffering a concussion for as long as it takes to heal, rather than being tempted to rush someone back because they're taking up a roster space.

Not sure I like the change. I wonder if they addressed the defender leaping over the center to block kicks ? Seems like that will now become a big part of the game as well.
New position = Designated Leaper not to be confused with designated lepper. Maybe each team will carry one 6' 10" or taller basketball type for the extra point plays.

i agree! take the heat off to return a concussed (is that a word) player back into the line-up. dealing with the aftermath of concussions is a big silent, stinky fart blossom in NFL owners meetings.

funny how it took everyone by surprise last year when the seagulls did it, players and fans alike, as if it had never been thought of in the long history of NFL play.

One of the finer points I liked was extra points and two point conversions are live ball plays, they can be returned now. So that jumping stuff will be accounted for now.

The live ball thing favors the defense, as does the rule itself. PATs were too easy, now it's not just time to get a snack.

The new spot will make it 33 yards, that length of field goals were made 49% of the time, I believe. Where as PATs were made 97% of the time.

Yep, you guys are right. I'm not sure where I got that 49%, going from rote here. Hell, I can barely remember my name.

Still doesn't seem like much of a challenge. I'd like to see it moved back far enough that the 2-pt conversion starts to look at least somewhat attractive every time. I think it would make the game a lot more interesting.

The two point conversion was 47.9 %, jeez I'm tired, going home to get some sleep.

Nah, something like that makes way too much sense.

They should change the name of the PAT so that the acronym doesn't reference the lying cheating Patriots.
