Added another Goldie to the collection. This thing is so clean. Other than a refret, it is 100% orig.

Plays wonderfully, although to be honest, the frets are a little too new/high compared to my other JM's. A little easier I suppose to do big bends, etc. Toanz are fantastic though. No pencil neck date. Body dates to 5/59 and pots are mid 59. And my homeboy Melly-Mell signed it like a boss. All told, I'm super stoked!! Strung this one up with flat wounds and kept the other '59 with rounds.

Tone report: Better or worse than a Buchla?

Wow, really nice Jazzmaster! I love the 2 and 1/2 tone bursts of the era. Curious about the signature you mentioned....I have the same one on my '60 Stratocaster. I guess I always thought it was a girl...like Melanie or something. Who was it? Just curious if you know....it's all part of the story!

I also had a '59 Stratocaster BTW with a October date signed by "Esper".

It doesn't get much better than that, congrats and your collection is mind boggling!

No date on the neck of my '59 either, next time I have it cracked I'll check the pots. The neck plate is 386xx, a bit of flame in the neck, etc.

I honestly don't know the story about Mell--it very well could be a woman. I will have to check my other '59, I know i've seen the Esper before.

Buchla has a little fuller low end.

Thanks! this one is 41xxx-ish. My other one has no neck date, but a body date of 4/59 and is 37xxx-ish.

I'm assuming that Esper is short for Esperanza.
