Well, last week actually. I picked up a 2014 Gibson SG Standard in Desertburst. This was a GC exclusive that lacked minEtune and the 2014 inlay; it has pull coil taps. I had a 2006 `61 Reissue SG and stupidly sold it 5-ish years ago. The build quality of this new SG is every bit as good as I remember my `61 RI to be. I seem to like the 57 Classics more than I remember and I definitely like having the coil taps. I like larger necks, and this isn't super skinny by any means (like Fender modern C), it's very comfortable. It was set up surprisingly well for a guitar that's been likely bouncing around Guitar Centers for the past year. I'm generally not a fan of sunburst-like finishes, as I have too many guitars with them, but I like that it's a non-standard color for an SG (walnut is my fave). I got her for $1130 with the case (not the new version, yuck) + tax. Haven't had a humbucker guitar in the stable for a while, I'm glad she's here.
