Very nice. That particular burst has always been my fave. I wanted that burst when I first saw it on the Epiphone Casino used by Teenage Fanclub and Paul Weller. I then saw it on the Larry Carlton 335 and later on the ES-339.

But I didn't want or need a Casino or 335 at the time and I couldn't live without block inlays on the 339 I ultimately bought - the burst 339 had dots. So I'm still burst-less.

Trouble is, having followed them for a while if you pay $6.5k for one you'd better not be in a hurry to sell it. They're a problematic guitar in that dealers think they're valuable because they're fairly rare, but really the market for them is very small so they're not an easy sell unless they're cheap enough to feel like a bargain. I'd be comfortable paying $4-5k for one, but more than that I'd be a bit twitchy.

To be fair, my remaining guitar funds at the moment are closer to $5 than $5k, so it's all a bit academic at the moment!

I find cherry bursts very dependent on what underneath them - I'm not always a fan but I have two now, this one and a Byrdland, and both times they popped up on Reverb and I couldn't take my eyes off them (didn't help that the Reverb ad for the 335 kept popping up every time I logged onto social media - almost as though Google knows how often I write about 335s). In both cases I think it's the wood grain underneath that makes the guitar, but the cherry burst really sets off a nice top in a way most other finishes wouldn't.

    Here's the Byrdland:

Congrats on finally adding a beautiful 335 to your ES family.

You have a very nice looking ES family.

I'm still waiting to add my 4th ES to my family.

Sometimes you just have to be patient and wait until one falls in your lap. ;)
