I'd been wanting to add a Les Paul Standard to my stable for a while now, and decided that I'd do it yesterday to celebrate 5 years of sobriety. It was only fitting that I'd go with Bourbon Burst, given my former affection for bourbon (1.75 liters per night, so I had to stop or die).

It's excruciating that I cannot pull it out of the case for a few more hours while it acclimates to temperature, so instead I'll post the pic from Sweetwater.

This is not my first Lester, as I have a '81 SilverBurst Custom that I am the original owner of, and a '07 studio. I've been mostly playing my PRSi but I think this will get a lot of use.

Edited to add an actual picture.

Congrats FIRST on staying sober for five years! Great work, my friend.

You earned every bit of that guitar. Rock on!

    1.75 liters per night? :omg

Well hopefully with this you get 1.75 hours of playing per night. The color on this one is absolutely beautiful!

Sadly, yes. Also was addicted to lorazepam. I got onto that as part of a half hearted attempt to detox, and it went downhill from there. Treatment works as long as you feel like you've hit bottom and don't want to dig any deeper. :D

Congrats on the anniversary and on your NGD.

Close friends have been fighting the fight for 20+ years and it's still day at a time, so stay strong and put your mind to shredding up some licks on that beauty.

Congrats to you as well. Keep it up. Every facet of my life improved after I made the decision to seek treatment. There's no situation in life that alcohol (or drugs) can't make worse. My wife get's pissed at me now because I am more mellow and let things go that she thinks I should stress over. If I can do something about something, I do. If not, I let it go.

I really like that finish! And even though I'm living in KY now, glad to hear you've forsaken the bourbon!

Haha sounds like we have a lot of similarities there haha... Everything you said applies to me as well. The catalyst for me was that I was about to have a daughter (first kid) and didn't want to inflict any of that on her, so I stopped. I wasn't quite at the consumption level you were at, but was about 3/4's of it on average. Literally every single part of my life gradually improved after I quit, and still is improving. I leaned on it for 15 years and can honestly say it only has drawn goodness from my life, and added exactly 0. I used guitars as a re-focus of my attention, and as a release, and it has been nothing but good times since.
