    Picked this one up yesterday.

I needed these things from a Strat:
    - maple neck
    - 43 mm nut
    - Jumbo frets
    - HSS configuration

In theory, this is my Swiss Army Knife guitar. The Double Tap humbucker sounds great with gain - very mid-rangey but works a treat. The Yosemite singles do the job too, pretty fat sounding. Position 2 has limited quack, even with the humburgler tapped, but position 4 sounds pretty legit.

I am just loving this guitar. It might be the one where Fender beats Gibson for me.

Follow up post: this guitar is wonderful. Definitely the guitar for me that can do almost everything. Maybe not the sustain and girth of my Les Paul, or the wiry twang of my Tele, or the sinister appearance of my SG, but it's damn good.

My previous attempt at a HSS Strat wasn't perfect. The base guitar was an American Special - so a great platform (43 mm nut, jumbo frets, maple neck) - but the pickups I chose didn't seem to match very well. I went for Seymour Duncans on that one: JB / Duckbucker / Little 59 (bridge/middle/neck respectively). No doubt they are good pickups, but as an integrated platform it just didn't work as well as this one. Maybe I had the wrong pots or something else, I don't know. It felt a bit mushy under palm muting and the quackage was curtailed somewhat.

Your guitar just looks "right" with that headstock

Has almost everything I'd want in a Fender Strat, but that Bighead ruins it {for me}. So 3 thumbs.

They are great guitars. The only thing I would replace is the bridge pickup with a Shawbucker 2. It is the perfect pickup for an HSS bridge, Fender got it right with the Elite series.

The big headstock is not for everyone. But if it means I get jumbo frets, that's an acceptable compromise for me.
