I'm not a strat guy, and just traded my G&L Legacy for this little guy, I read a bunch about it, and while it's not the most beautiful Gibson, it has a beefier C shaped neck and sounds much more 335 than LP to my ears... I think I got a nice deal on a really solid guitar, and just what i need to compliment my lineup

I've been drooling over them for a while. If Gibson released an ES-339 with a factory Bigsby I would snatch one up immediately.

    Congratulations on your new Gibson.
I just got a new LP yesterday, so I'm keeping my head down in case the Gibson bashers are out. ;)

Only kidding. Hope you really enjoy your new guitar. :)

You realize there's a mandatory one week suspension for posting a NGD thread without pics, right? ;)

    Happy NGD! :aok

Open an Imgur account, upload your pics.
Copy the Direct Link url and in your thread, use the landscape icon next to the smiley to paste it into your thread.

I don't see any pictures which can only mean you made this entire thing up.

[IMG] i had a chance to put it through the paces yesterday, there are some typical gibson problems with the nut, but that is a cheap fix, otherwise it sounds great, it's kinda ugly, but i'll put some pics up, let me get an imgur account

That's not ugly! Maybe cream plastics would pretty it up a touch.

Congrats on your new guitar! Hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

I agree with you about the sound. I’m always confused when people say 339s sound like a Les Paul, because mine does not, at all.

At the same time, I trust they know what their guitar sounds like, so who knows what the explanation is...

    Go crank your 339!

    Right on!

I had the same guitar for a while. I would have kept it if I hadn't found myself without a Tele

The roasted maple neck is very comfortable. I actually found mine to be a really bright guitar; I had to keep the tone knobs way down

The bit of controlled feedback you get with fuzz is A+100

i put .11s on it, and lowered the pickups, she's going to get a proper setup tomorrow
it has a fairly big neck which i love, but there is a little bit of neck dive, which doesn't bother me, i'm a big guy and play mostly sitting, if i use a strap, i keep the guitar pretty high

can i just say, i love the sound of this guitar and the neck is great, but after a setup, it exhibits the problematic gibson tuning stability..... i think i need to find replacement tuners, and it possibly needs a fret job.. or maybe it's just a bit of a dog? hmmmmm i've had too many gibsons like this... but it could be a cheap fix

I got an ES-339 recently too and the tuning stability isn't great. I think the nut is poorly cut.
