This is my first true Gibson Guitar. I used it at practice this week and really enjoyed it. I have two shows this weekend and looking forward to hearing it roar in a club. It's an expensive guitar for playing out, but I don't buy them to just hang on the wall. I can't wait to play the first set tonight!

Happy NGD! The best guitar I ever owned was a Johnny A. signature...the only guitar I wish I'd never sold...

    Oh and whatta first!!!

FWIW, I have a 336, a Johnny-A cousin. But I love the fact the JAs have a 25.5" scale! I love my 336, just a great, all-around rockin guitar that covers lots of tonal turf. But secretly I wish I had a JA, but finding one used is like searching for hens teeth. Enjoy! :D

Outstanding! One of the very best signature guitars IMO.

Congrats on your Johnny A!! It is a very special and unique instrument, I'm sure it will just scream in your live situation.

I traded for mine way back in 2002 (I think that was the year) and almost sold it once but persevered. I am VERY happy I let myself get talked out of that!

    Good luck and ENJOY!!

Is that a mahogany top on yours?

Yes, it's all mahogany, back and top with a rosewood fretboard. I'm not certain but I believe this combination was only made around 2008.

With my "new country"/classic rock band, I've kind of become addicted to my American Tele. I love the bite the tele has and with my Redplate amp/Helix I have plenty of stuff to fatten up the tone when needed.

The Johnny A, I have to dial stuff back a bit because of the hotter humbuckers. There's a great quality to the tone of the Johnny A but it's a change from my tele.

I'll have to see where I like my rig set to make the Johnny A sing and swing the way I hope. I'll report back after my show tonight.
