    ...in Pelham blue, of course!

I sure do love that color...

I guess JB likes his knobs mismatched ;)

    Solid black back...

First quick impressions: I dig the neck shape, which is not as thick as I thought it would be, but is... full.

The pickups are supposed to be burstbuckers, but right now I can only hear one. The pickup switch was pushed downward into the body and won't allow switching... but the one pickup I can hear sounds great ;)

Thanks buddy, and yes, I have. Might be time to take a breath and assess the current herd. :)

You might be single handedly keeping the guitar market a float!
Do you have a limit on how many to buy in a weeks time.

    Nice axe!

I like when they come already upgraded with what I would do anyway... but the thing is the neck for me. I bought a bunch of Epiphones in the past months, about ten of them, and all came with small little toothpick necks. This one has a real neck. And it's hard to upgrade that ;)

yeah, its got the '59 neck right? I have big hands but those are still some big necks. I think mine is a 60's profile.

Yes, the 59 neck. As noted above it's not as round and big as Gibson 50s necks I have had in the past. But it's still girthy (insert that's what she said joke here...)

It also has a maple cap, as opposed to the veneer on the standard.

Interesting. I thought they all had veneers over mahogany.

I'm not sure how Epi does it?? Mine is a custom shop and I thought it just meant the custom color, but I checked and it supposedly has a maple cap:dunno

....Actually I know it does b/c I can hear that it's maple ;)

IIRC A few older standards have come with alder tops with a flame veneer but it's kind of a crap shoot trying to figure out which years have one and which ones don't. Best way to find out is pulling a pup and looking for the cap yourself. As for solid maple caps, I believe the Tribute guitars and probably the JB ones have them. Although the flame is still veneer.

I'm not a big time Epiphone expert so I could be off.

Also, HNGD OP. I love Pelham blue. Classy color for sure.

I have never seen a JB Standard, I bought a NOS 1960 50th Ann. LP Standard last year on impulse because I thought it was a good deal. I believe that are similar. Non chambered, long tenon, fat neck, Burstbuckers and some upgraded electronics. Great guitars, well worth the asking price. What kind of pickups does it have? Mine came with Burstbuckers 1 & 2, underage pickups, kinda like a Pearl Gates set, no desire to swap them out for boutique ones. Love the color as well.

Yeah, that's what I thought as well. The translucents were supposed to be a maple cap as well.

I remember searching Google when I bought my 1960 V1 and found a thread on a Les Paul forum with pics posted confirming the tenon and maple cap after pulling a pickup out. I expect the JB is built the same way. I am assuming the JB has a long tenon as well.

I should hope so! I mean, I read that if you can't, you are obviously not a good player!
