Yup....agree with the gold hardware decision.... aged or not. Mixing gold and nickel doesn't work very well at all, even when the gold is severely aged.
My Gary Rossington Les Paul has aged gold hardware, but it varies depending or which part. The ABR-1 shows the least aging to the gold. The stop tailpiece and pickup covers show the most aging and wear to the gold. It would look ghastly to put a worn nickel ABR-1 on it.

No more pictures for 2 weeks. He's completing the lacquering and said that it will be left alone until he is ready to add the hardware and electronics. The GAS will be expelling!!! I'll post the final pics before he sends it to me and follow up with the first "in hands" report.

OMG. The flamed Limba is stunning!!! I'm starting to build one similar, but it will be more of a '68. But my wood doesn't look like THAT! Well done!

PS: Any particular reason for not grain-filling? Or is that vintage spec? Not that it matters. Just curious!

Vintage spec. I wanted to leave the color natural, but it was rather light colored compared to a vintage look, so the builder added some color, but wanted to leave the filler out like the originals. The curl in that Korina is very unusual. I'll post more pics when he's completed the finishing in another week.

Some would consider the dozens of Strat and Tele clone offerings produced by both large and small scale builders to be replicas too. Even so, you can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting a post that features someone's "interpretation" of an iconic design. At least the peghead logo is his own.

Looks like it's been through final assembly. Here are more pictures. I should receive it in about 10 days and will update with more pictures and some sound clips. It came in at 6.7 pounds.

I have to repeat myself: unbelievable piece of korina. If it sounds half as good as it looks you're one lucky man.

The only item the luthier is unhappy with is the pick guard. He said that it will be modified to a closer tolerance for the next V that he makes. This one is the "prototype" which will now let him fine tune his templates to get the guitar parts even closer to the original specification.

    That is lovely!

BTW OP: I thought you said that you were apprentice to this luthier - why didn't you assemble and complete the guitar yourself? Just curious.

I was visiting Valery in Belarus. We did the main wood work over a weekend. It took him weeks to add and polish the lacquer. I couldn’t stay long enough to do the finishing. The building is as fun as the playing!

Here is the V compared to one of his single cut models
