I'm a LP guy all the way. I've owned many LPs over the years and a couple of PRS's. I have a 99 LP Custom black beauty and 2002 Standard Honey Burst. I used to have a 96 PRS McCarty and a 2001 Singlecut goldtop.

Just bought this guitar and am astonished how great it plays and sounds. $1300 gets you a lot of guitar for the money just not a lot of looks. I actually like the retro look to be honest but yeah I'd rather a nice top with mineral streaks, black gold burst with natural binding. I remember having PRS 7 pickups in my Singlecut and not caring for it all that much. From my understanding these are 7's and love the dynamics, fat bottom and sweet highs. It seems to play well with the all mahogany body better I suppose. Any other owners?

    Congratulations!

Over the years, I've become an all mahogany guitar guy. Maple tops never gave me the sound, that I always had in my head. I now own three PRS Starla's, a Standard 22, and a Les Paul Jr.

I actually thought you were holding up a Starla at first. Beautiful guitar. I'm an avid PRS fan myself with a small collection of beauties. Congrats!!! Most of mine have maple tops except my Starla and Swamp Ash Special. Great guitars!

Beautiful. I've saving up for one of these right now. Glad to hear you're digging it.

How does it compare to some of your favorite LPs?

Nah you don't need a flashy top, that thing is beautiful.

I have the grey/black S2 Singlecut with the maple top, but I like the look of the pickguard too. Nice grab! Really great instruments, although I do wish they had binding.
