PICS TO FOLLOW - get off my case! :p

I first saw this at the Vintage Show in Costa Mesa on NAMM weekend; other than a refret (?) she was beautiful....duh, she's a R4 Black Beauty....and very lightweight! The seller claimed 8.25lbs (need to break out the digital scale) but I do know she's very light! LPB-4 so not chambered; all the case candy and the COA - I'm STOKED!!!
I had an R4 years back that weighted a ton....9+ lbs, the pickups weren't very well balanced in fact I sent them to Duncan but the guitar had a dull muffled sound, I never really bonded with it (sonically) but visually....I would stare at it while watching TV.
The seller had it listed at $2850.00 at the show - when I contacted him a week later, I told him the reason it didn't sell was because he had it marked too high so I got it for $2400.00......SWEET!

Weird - what happened to my pictures?

One tiny little ding underneath the p/u selector

These frets feel like railroad ties - why someone had her refretted is beyond me...

Just over 8lbs according to my bathroom scale - very resonant - and so purty!!! I'm digging the Klusons, mine had Grovers.

Oh man, that is sweet! I've been on the lookout for a super light one for a while now, and I seem to keep missing them! Enjoy it in good health! :beer

Congrats on the killer 54!! I used to have one from 97 I believe which was a historic with Grover's. I absolutely loved it's appearance but plugged in it never could compete with my r6 goldtop. I chalked it up to the lack of a maple cap but I wonder if a hotter or different p90 would have helped? Wish I could get another after seeing yours! Oh well

I'd love to own a R4 one day, that's my dream LP.
    Is that a bone nut?

As I said, Duncan rewired my p/u's and it still didn't sound all that great; I attributed it to the lack of a maple cap as well but now I'm thinking it may have been the weight. My old one was a pig.

I think so but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the compliments - I'm stoked to have another Custom again.

Klusons weigh about 5-6 ounces less than a set of Grovers. With a Custom, the most important thing is how it sounds.

The Alnico front? Awesome! Front p/u, lots of gain, roll the tone knob all the way down......perfection!

She sounds great, clean or dirty, plugged in or not.

    I'm stoked!
