Damn. Yeah, that video was entertaining. lol

Did I hear him right? The one in the video is 7.7lbs? I thought mine was light @ just over 8lbs.

Yes. I hesitated a couple of days and it was gone. Mine weighs 8.49. Still not bad for an LP. My McInturff Carolina weighs 9.8.

Yeah, I agree. I had to downsize during a big move and I had to pick between the R6 and my '76 Les Paul deluxe that my dad had bought me back in the 80s. I figured I could always put P90s in the deluxe and I am emotionally attached to that guitar, but quality wise the R6 was all over the Norlin (even though it is quite nice).

Here's an old shot. Mine was probably a 2000-2001 somewhere around there. I still have the '65 SG jr.

EDIT: Selling that double cut historic was also probably a mistake. Thought I didn't need two juniors, but what did I know.

Some say 8.5 to a touch over 9 is the 'sweet spot' and there may be some truth to that.

Either way yours is an incredible example no doubt.

Sweet R6. I hope you really enjoy playing it.

These are great guitars, no mistake, and I have no problem with the idea that they may be the epitome of Lest Paul design. I had a 56 many years ago, and for a long time my idea of a Les Paul was a gold guitar-- the flame tops just looked wrong to me. (I'm over that now. Love my R8.) For the past decade I've owned a 96 R6. It weighs 9 lb. 1 oz. has a nice fat neck and sounds very much like an old 56.

Me too. Guess I did not get the memo because I have never been into overly flamey or sparkly things. My R8 and ES-335 are both plane tops. My Srat and Tele are unremarkable as far as looks goes. Not knocking those who like the bling, but my taste is more classic. Now if my wife picked out my guitars, it would be a different story.

If you were interested enough to watch Greg's demo, I think he does all those with the volume and tone pots dimed. I crave P-90 tone that is a bit more rolled off with some trem and reverb. A little more bluesy, say like Fogerty, etc. I have been a Creedence fan for decades and there is a handful of their songs I do justice to.
