My Ron Thorn Masterbuilt Strat arrived last Saturday. I’m still absolutely dumbstruck, so I’ll let pictures speak:

Base model is a Ash-body ˋ56 Strat in Mercedes Blue. It sports a one-piece roasted Maple neck with a fat ˋ51U profile (which Ron made even a bit thicker than normal) and stainless steel 6105 frets. In the electronics department it’s got a set of Tomatillo pickups connected to a vintage modified #1 wiring.

What shall I say: it’s a truly outstanding instrument. Great look, awesome played-in feel, especially the slick neck that’s absolutely effortless to play. And last but not least a well-balanced, harmonic Strat sound that reacts extremely well on the players pick dynamics.

Many, many thanks to @Ron Thorn for making it happen. If you’re looking for an exceptional instrument out of the Fender Custom Shop, Ron’s your man. And he’s a super-nice guy too...

Congrats. If I were ever to find myself considering a guitar at that level, @Ron Thorn is the guy I would want building it.

That’s some exceptionally beautiful straight grain on that neck.

I like everything about that. How long did it take to get?

Great specs, wonderful builder. That is a real gem, even among other Masterbuilt Fenders.

Did you get a discount for all the scratches and dings, plus the finish is wore off the neck. I'd probably return it.

    Just kidding... that's awesome, congrats!

    Beautiful guitar!

Do you find the neck stiffer to play, considering its thickness and tight quartersawn grain?

I hope that guitar spends a lot of time on a stand instead of a case so you pick it up and play it every day.
