NGD, thrift store surprise!

    Awesome deal!

    A quick fix for that headstock veneer is a product called A-poxy.

    You can get it in black, and it is some kind of epoxy paste that is mainly
    used on model cars.

    You can apply that over the chunked out area almost like spreading peanut
    butter, and then go over it with a damp rag and then sand lightly.

    You then wont be able to hardly see the damage.

    I vote:

    1) Cover the headstock front w/duck-tape, write "Gitsum" in the Gibbo font.

    2) Carefully restore the headstock back to black, apply decal.
    A FENDER decal.

    Ditch those mini pots....
