I had gone by Nik's booth to say 'hi' and he was so kind as to pay me a visit the next morning. I have got to say that 2 of Europe's finest guitar builders, Nik Huber and Juha Ruokangas are also 2 wonderful dudes!! Both produce fine work and are just real gentlemen as well.

Here's a pic of myself and Nik (holding my Apollo Artist) after his stopping by my booth.

Nik is really a class act!!

Jack, your guitar there is spectacular! Pics that have made the rounds just floored me. But is Nik that big, or is he standing on something? Gee, I guess I better stop making fun of his sissy-boy guitars! Both of you guys build some of the sweetest stuff around. Regards, AC

Thanks, AaeCee. Nik is about 6'3", and I am a mere 5'7", so there you go!

Really a big dude, no matter how tall!

Glad you got to meet him. Nik is a terrific guy, a great friend, and makes a wonderful guitar.

In fact, it was great at NAMM meeting a lot of builders for the first time-good builders share so many traits.

That guitar of yours looks pretty darn sweet, BTW....

Jack, one of the best things about NAMM for me this year was the true camaraderie and warmth among all of the builders at the show. I got the opportunity to spend time with you, Nik, Juha, Gene Baker, Saul Koll, Bill Chapin, and there was never anything other than support and encouragement (sorry if I've missed anyone). So thanks to all of you for the warm welcome.

2 of the finest? My fave is conspicously absent. Nik is a good guy, no doubt.

The Hubers looked great. But, a couple of the nicest things at NAMM was the opportunity to meet Jim Soloway and Jack Briggs. These are two nice guys that typify the love of the art of guitar building. Some day I would like to own one from each of them....

Jim's long scale guitars sounded lush and beautiful through Ben Fargen's amps in his little sound room.

Matte, I'd probably have to include JG, but I haven't had the pleasure of actually handling one. Only 2nd party reviews. I mentioned Nik and Juha because I not only sampled their wares but had at-length conversations with them. Both class acts IMO.

Jim, it was an equal pleasure meeting and talking with you. I met Saul briefly on Thur. morn, didn't see Gene or Bill, but all in all it was a great time.

Jim, it was a great pleasure meeting you.

You make a wonderful product-the passion really shows in your work.

I WILL own one of your 7 strings soon!

Ya, Nik's great and it's cool to see he's finally getting respect.
    2 years ago I bought my 1st Huber, Nik's 1st Redwood.
I posted here and got a rather negative response by quite a few at the TGP.
At NAMM I picked up my 6th Huber and ordered another with more to come!

    Hello Jack,
I am finally back in freezing Germany...it was my pleasure to finally meet you in person! This guitar I was allowed to hold is just amazing - I already knew your guitars are stunning after seeing them in London the last years but talking to "the man" is even greater!!!
It was so nice to meet Gene Baker, Jim Soloway, Bill Chapin and Saul Koll, too and I can only say you are right Jim - a lot of friendship in the air!!!!
Juha Rukangas is already a good friend since a few years, so I already look forward to see all of you again next year - or maybe some of you in Austin? I will be there! In already 8 weeks, I will have a beer with Juha in Frankfurt/ Musikmesse! :BEER Thanks and a lot of respect to all of you for being great people and great builders! This makes our dream job even better!!!!!
