any amp techs in NJ hang out here? i think i have to get a tube socket replaced. when i replaced the tubes in my amp, the new one wouldn't sit in there tightly. i looked and there is no way to change it. i think i'll need the socket replaced. can i wrap the tube in electrical tape or something in the meantime. it gets a scratchy sound when the amp shakes.

    Hey Wsaraceni ,
I was at an Ampfest in Kenilworth NJ last month , and there was an amp tech named Jimmy Somma with his own line of beautiful hand built custom amps .

Anyway , besides his custom amps ,he does repairs and modifications . He's located in Somervlle NJ . (908)704-0041 . WWW.sommatone.com .
He is a real nice guy , and he helped me out with a lot of amp questions , and he knows what he's doing.

There is also a place that I've heard of with a good reputation called Time Electronics located in Union NJ .

    Good Luck,
    Chris.

Another one for Jimmy Somma. Does great work and his amps are very cool indeed. Works on guitars too.

    Best, Pete.

I've heard great things about Dennis Kager at Central Jersey Music Service
in Edison. The phone number is 732-572-1911. Dennis was with Ampeg some years back, and was also co-designer of Reverend amps.

I had the chance to jam with Jimmy Somma at the amp fest. Great guy, excellent amps and a decent guitar player. I also Met Louis Rosano or Louis Electric, also a nice guy and a decent tech.

Let me know if you can't get the work done by one of these great techs. I'll be happy to help you out. I'm sure you'd rather have a pro.

plugged in again today and i couldn't hear the sound at all. maybe it was a bad preamp tube (i replaced last night but didnt try it out afterwards) who knows. ill probably take it in to get a checkup anyways.

I had issues with Dave's Sound. I'm not going back.

I'm going to try Dennis Kager.
