Don't care one way or another about the bikini threads, but -

How is it that so many posting here get away with spending significant work time on TGP, or any other non work-related sites? My employer is logging what sites I visit. :worried I don't want to give them any legitimate reason to fire me. When I'm working, I'm working. They will never be able to claim that I was cruising the web on their dime.

I appreciate your response Betos. Thanks.
I stayed away from this thread as it was grating against a my sense of 'fair play' and 'labeling' that can and does cause damage.

Here's a pro tip for everybody upset about not being able to view TGP from work: It's 2012, buy a damn smart phone!

Your work can't block the sites you view on your phone as long as you are not using their wifi.

I'll admit I miss the darn thing.
It was one little bright spot each day.

I won't go into any details about firewalls, proxies or outside commercial services, etc. involved in the practice of site blocking.

But it is, to say the least, a very inexact science and most organizations where people work should have a process for modifications, appeals, requests etc. to have a particular site unblocked. It should not be a very big deal. But, oh well.

Some posters on that thread, it seemed as if that was the only thread they posted on.

    How would that conversation go?

"Hi, boss! I'd like to surf The Gear Page while I'm at work. Can you authorize the IT guys unblock it for me?"

    :D

That's what I was getting at. They have me totally paranoid about what I do online. They tell us straight out that they are logging everything we do on the computer. I have never tried to get to TGP while at work, so I have no idea if it's blocked. And I'm not gonna find out.

Just curious...are some public wi-fi spots blocking TGP as well? Seems I can't download the site at certain locations.

Probably. Our site wi-fi blocks many sites.

Isn't coming to TGP to look at women a bit indirect?

Sorry, didn't have time to read the whole thread, but...

What about the threads labeled "Guitar Porn"?

So now it's "[censored], [censored]. and rock n roll"?
