I also really dig your built. Honestly, I love that it's kinda unique. Like others have said, it'll pop more with Chrome hardware

I would stain the body black/dark grey to make it even more of a looker. Like the Paul Waggoner signature Ibanez or the really weird and shortlive Les Paul CM by Gibson

I would whitewash the body and that would make the black on the board and pickups really pop. There are websites and videos that explain how to apply that translucent white finish. I bet the grain would really look great!!!

I don't get the discontent at all. That thing is gorgeous. Hit it with a few coats of nitro semi-gloss from a rattle can and rock the snot out of it.

i think a wooden pickguard would look nice, or flat black single ply. I prefer the look of a guard though.

I was reading your post thinking it was gonna look dumb based on how you sounded unhappy, but then saw the picture and I like it as is. I'd leave it. Agree that once the hardware is on and it's all strung up, it'll probably look pretty good.

I really like it. Love the features of the body and the woods used.

Slap it together and if you don't like it, I'm sure plenty of us will happily entertain you with lowball offers in the Emporium.

How about an American flag? That would be new and different.

I was going to say that cream covers would liven it up a bit.

That top looks killer it would be a shame (mistake) to paint it at all IMO. If you could get a veneer that matches the body for the headstock that would be next level cool! Or you could go black back & headstock that would also look cool IMO.

I built a Warmoth black limba Strat with black pickup covers and black hardware and hated the looks... kinda blah and didn't show off a Strat's curves. Changed the hardware to gold, gold Gibson speed knobs, pearloid tuner buttons and cream pickup covers and it now looks great. Strat's need contrast to look like a Strat (i.e. white pick guard, covers, chrome, etc), an exotic wood Strat needs some bling to standout with that top wood. Strats just don't look right when they look too sleek and matchey matchey.

Looks like it'll be a nice build when it's done - you'll need a waterslide decal of "Ikeacaster" - too cool a name to not keep it.
