800$ for a gold horseyman? Haven't they been going for way higher than that on eBay already for years prior to Bill's recent announcement?

Honestly could you tell by listening to a player whether its live, a clip or right in front of you if the klon is part of the equation? Nuff said!

The point of a pedal like the Klon is that it becomes part of your sound. It's not like stepping on a Fuzz Face and having the pedal dominate your tone.

The Klon is amazing because it doesn't automatically draw attention to itself when it's in use. Still, when you turn it on or off you hear quite a difference.

That's the beauty of the pedal.

So is there an acceptable alternative? Does the Tim/Timmy get you in the ballpark or do they alter your tone more than the Klon?

Great pieces, the Tim & Timmy...but they are not comparable to a Klon. Not saying one is better than the other, just that if you're looking for a Klon Klone, I can tell you the Tim/Timmy is not it. As for altering tone, the Klon will do that immediately once it enters the chain, which is why many put it in a loop. But...just as many (I'm guessing here) like the tonal change and keep it in the chain.
