A buddy of mine that is a great talent but no gearhead just dropped off his original 64 Deluxe Reverb for me to retube. Oh man, this thing sounds like bacon smells. I'm going to do some recording of it versus my regular DRRI. Anyone care to hear the results?

A 64 Deluxe Reverb was the first amp I ever had. I bought it with a 64 Jazzmaster on the same day.

I used to have a DRRI and have played my friend's '67 BF DR, but I wasn't able to do a head to head. So I am curious to hear the clips of these 2 amps head to head....

It'll have to wait till tomorrow :( , I had to take the kids to soccer practice.

There'll be a whole rundown with tubes and settings tomorrow.

OK, here's a few snippets I was able to fire off before the family came home. The 64 DR and the DRRI were both mic'd off axis with an SM58 (I left the 57 at church) and fed to a Line 6 UX1 set pretty clean. The 64 is tubed with new GT 6v6s and the preamp tubes are all GTs from 93. It has the original speaker in it. The DRRI has JJ/Tesla 6v6s and a mix of JJ/Teslas and old Fender 12 AX7s in it. Both amps were set at 5 for the treble and bass, 3 on the reverb, and in the #1 input of the tremelo channel. Excuse the noodling, it was a lot of fun that loud. I didn't say which amp was which so y'all could pick your favorite with no preconceived notions.
