how does it compared to the v1?
Fulltone has a small batch of OCD GE units for sale currently on his website. For those interested.
I have a 1.4, a 2.0 and a Ge. Waiting to have a spare hour or so to create a loop to test the 3 then do a blind test on myself.
Definitely interested in the results of this.
they sounds like an OCD but with a totally different EQ with each. comparing 1.4 v2 and ge the Ge has the least amount of gain among all 3 of them. v2 has the most amount of gain and bass freq compares to the 1.4 and the ge.
the ge is the most open sounding compared with the 3. im curious how it stacked up with the v1 ocd since other people been saying how open sounding their version 1 is.
the V2 has the most Db volume level compares to 1.4 and v2 ge. the loudest pedal among all 3, the v2 Ge has closer sweep feels on the volume like the 1.4 but the v2 Ge has way more strings clarity.
Thanks. Still gonna do my own blind test.
Also, the 1.4 is a v1 (it's just not the "holy grail" v1.2 or v1.3, depending on who you talk to)
that's a great point. i never heard the first version ocd in person and im curious if all the hype is true about these pre 1.4 versions.
I can hear a difference, but it is subtle
nice, i mean, like really playing it in person. it's funny how it's easier to find player with original klon to test out in LA, but its much harder meeting with someone that has v1.1 ocd in LA to test out.
That first post that I put up has a quick side by side comparison. Despite what Fulltone says, the OCD-Ge is quieter than my V1 OCD. So, if you look at the volume settings, I had to raise the Ge's up a little.
Is this pedal SMT components or all through hole components?
don't mean to defer from the topic at hand, but what does this mean, "SMT components vs all through hole components". I see it from time to time? How does it make a difference?
its definitely based of the v2 circuit. its funny because you can totally see the 2 Germanium diodes when you open pedal. like its right there on the top corner.
If it’s based on the V2 topology (pretty sure it is) then it’s mostly SMT. Diodes are definitely thru hole.
Surface Mount Technology
This is nearly always an indication that production is automated, meaning fewer man hours to build each pedal. SMT pedals sound just as good and allow for more circuit in a smaller package but they are often difficult/impossible to repair or modify.
Thank You. That is why I ask.
Snapped one up today. I have an older OCD (v1.x?), Fulldrive, Plimsoul, SSTE, and one of their ways, so I like their stuff.
Looking forward to getting it, but not sure it will make its way on to any of my three boards. I'll see if it can bump off a Fulldrive, Klone (Silver Pony), TS-9, Zendrive, Plimsoul or germanium treble booster. Good luck!
This GE is just as good if not better than V1.
Mine arrived Thursday and am loving it. I own V1.2 the coveted one and really now love both pedals. I usually use the LP mode on my V1.2 and the new Ge I was happy on the HP mode, very beautiful breakup. Tone is super transparent, great sustain, huge palette of available sounds, a hit out of the park indeed.
I received #725 today. I haven’t tried all of the OCD version but of the ones I have tried this is the one I like best.
The volume is less hyper, it’s gain is smoother but has a massive amount of volume and gain on tap (they all do). The HP gives it a mid bump and sound good without being to muddy. It’s cliche but it has more of an amp feel and is very touch sensitive.
It’s a keeper for sure.
