I need a new amp...I'm am currently ampless. I'm leaning towards a 5e3 clone. So, I emailed Jim at Little Dawg about his 5E3.

But...here's the catch, I don't like tweed. So he suggested I look at Mikes work from Ampcabco.com

Well wouldn't ya know it, Mike makes a slick looking Watkins Dominator style cab.

Would I be nuts for putting a 5e3 chassis from Jim into a Blue and creme dominator cab? Basically, the cab would cost more than the amp, and I'd still have to outfit it with speakers.

I dunno, it sounds good to me, I just have to decide if I'm serious about it, and if I can swing the Coin.

You're probably right. But then again it's your choice. And your coin.....Personally I love Tweed...IF the amp sounds like it should be in a Tweed cabinet.

Your head and your heart are not aligned, so I suggest you wait until logic and emotion are in harmony.

I'd get the chassis first and make sure I was happy with the tone before having a custom cab built for it.

+1 wise advice. I stray from the "black box" norm so I dig the Dominator style cab. The 5E3 circuit would be my problem...they don't jive with me.

I love the Dominator cab, but a 5E3? Seems to me you can't go wrong with putting a 5E3 in a standard Tweed cab - thousands of owners can't be all wrong, plus you gotta think: resale? OTOH since the Dominator is such a cool and unique cab, doesn't it make sense to maybe put a unique amp in there? Maybe you've got two separate projects here...

If you like the cab and you like the chassis who cares? Its not like they get glued together, you can always change it later.

    why?
when i buy an amp it's w/ the intention of keeping it, not selling it.

i think both look fantastic, but i lean towards the blue one.
