Nut recomendations for Les Paul.

The nut on my 92 LP Standard is worn out, strings starting to bottom out, especially the D string...new nut time.

Replace with bone is my first thought, any other materials i should consider, phonelic, brass etc.

I bend behind the nut quite a bit, what material deals with this best?

Cheers.

Tusq is nice. I don't think they wear as long as bone but strings never hang up. Very slick.

A well cut bone nut always seems to work best.

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

Polished, unbleached bone.
Or nylon if you can find a luthier who is willing do it.
