Obsessed With The Mellotron!

    When I started reading this thread the streetlytron pro app was $29.99. I just looked again now and it’s $24.99. I wanted something I could trigger via midi and this should fit the bill.

    I have the Mel9 and it’s cool but very different. I mostly use it with my omnichord to blend in some cool strings, flutes, or vox with the cheesy 80s goodness.

    How does this differ from using the pitch knob?

    Brilliant... kicking myself for not thinking of this (I have an OM-36, Syn9, and Boss SY-1 I want to try this with now)

    Yep the combo is fun. Especially with some effects afterwards.

    Without taking time to read through all the replies I'llmention that the "original" mellotrons were full of sound effects,bird calls etc. I believe too that the tapes may have only run in one direction and not on a loop originally and that before they were useful for bands several mods were undertaken.

    Today I played my Mel9 through my Ottobit Jr. It sounded nothing like Genesis! ;)
