anybody compared the two?...
Great sounding amp?
Get an OCD v1.4
Trying to mask or fix a bad sounding amp?
get other OD's that cut your bass and highs.
the PP800 has way more gain than an OCD
PP800 is a bit more "amp" sounding ... as "amp" sounding as a pedal could ever be I guess.
I have both...I prefer the OCD. What I don't care for with the PP is how the thickness is lost when you're higher up in the register. Sounds great for chords, rhythm, but it just lacks a bit too much umph when soloing.
Now, the OCD, when it's goosed with a 808 type pedal..It gets heavyier with a lot of sustain and thickness
really? mine seems too still have the body even on the high notes
yeah...I've resorted to using a Fat Boost to thicken up the notes.
I am in the same boat...I've got a Bassman and have thought about adding another dirt pedal to allow for more Marshall-y adventures...I've heard that the OCD v4 is more versatile...also less expensive. Of course, the only way is to buy/try in my book...
I use to use a 59 Bassman RI with the OCD it was a big fat rock'n tone!
Nobody ever posts what's on either end of a pedal when they post reviews/comments. What guitar & amp you using?
OCD v.4 at 18 volts! I liked the PP 800, but not more than the OCD v.4. I like to goose the OCD with a Mojo Drive set to the TS or Boost setting depending on the guitar and pickups(usually the TS setting). I really dig this combo into my TH Emplexador MKII and my 20 watt Fargen Olde 800! Super thick and sustain for days, mmmmm Crunchilicious!
