Which is better for Velvet Revolver/Buckcherry/STP tones.

I can't speak for the Mosfet II since I haven't played one, but I absolutely love my OCD. It gets into some high gain territory, although not metal. I'll use it for songs where I don't need a ton of high gain, and I'll run it on my clean channel, instead of using the distortion channel on my Recto.

if you're an old school rocker looking for sixties-seventies raw sound , go for OCD.

if you're a modern blueser looking for something more sweet and singing and love these great tube screamer players, go for the fulldrive mosfet.

For the higher gain rock tones of STP/Buckcherry, it's the OCD and it's not even close. The FD is not capable of producing that type of tone on it's own, the amp has to do most of the work.

My guess would be that you should let us know the amp you are using and if you are using any of the amps gain or just hitting the clean channel.

I use a FDII to achieve this kind of tone but that is through the B channel of a Budda SD with the drive just shy of 1/2 way up.
